The Navet Water Treatment plant was an existing water treatment facility build approximately forty years ago. UEM was awarded the contract for the refurbishment and upgrading of this plant in May, 1999. The refurbishment contract was a design-build contract where UEM was to design the upgraded clarifiers, convert them from a flocculation-tube settler type to an upflow sludge blanket type with Clari-cone technology. UEM's scope also included the refurbishment of Gravity Filters, the design and installation of an automatic chemical dosing system (Lime, alum, PAC), the design and installation of a new chlorine dosing system, the installation of new electrics and controls, and the design & installation of a PLC and SCADA system for the complete automation of the plant.

The refurbishment of the Navet WTP was completed in July 2000 and the phased plant commissioning was completed in September 2000. The newly refurbished facility now produces water with <1 NTU turbidity and almost negligible color (<1 Hz Units).
