Penal Water Treatment Plant; Capacity: 5.6 MLD Flow

The Penal Water Treatment Plant is an aquifer water treatment plant. A new plant was built to replace the existing treatment plant in a very small and compact footprint. The influent raw water has high levels of iron and induced gases. The water treatment plant included the following unit processes:

Chemical & Chlorine Dosing Facilities
Backwash Water and Clarifier Under Flow Water recovery system

The Plant was designed, installed and commissioned by UEM to produce treated water within the Water and Sewerage Authority's specifications. The plant was successfully commissioned in October 1999 and has been producing quality water at the design flow rate since. On average, the the treated water has <0.5 NTU turbidity and <0.1 iron contact. A state of art PLC system has been installed for the automatic operation of the plant.
